Ford Figo – The next blockbuster release from Ford?
Ford cars have been struggling to find a niche in India even after many years of its Indian operation. The straight reason being lack of customer satisfaction and no customer bonding with ford cars. Things looked bleak for Ford in India, but it all changed with the launch of Ford EcoSport. The crossover SUV was an instant hit and promised a new dawn for Ford in India. It has been followed by Ford Figo, which is a hatchback from Ford and has found considerable popularity within Indian car buyers. Let’s look at its various aspects and understand if this car has got what it takes to beat the competition.
One of the most well designed in its segment is the new generation Ford Figo. One might try to recall the front grill similarity while watching the photo above, it is inspired from the James Bond of cars- the Aston Martin along with a simple and distinctive design the American car maker has once again come up with an amazing car backed by good engineering. The modest design and the wrap-around tail lamps also make the Ford Figo very visually appealing to the audience.

New generation Ford Figo has an all-black interior as compared to the previous generation of dual tone color. Ergonomically the Ford Figo is very subtle. The top end model gives a visual readout for the infotainments system. The cabin quality is good, and the performance of the car is amongst the best in the segment. The noise insulation of the Ford Figo is also very good at high speeds. The cabin space is just appropriate for 5 people in Ford Figo which is comfortable for the front and rear passengers at the same time.
Ford Figo comes with engine options of a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The Sports variant gets a stiffer suspension setup which makes the handling of the car sportier and to compliment this characteristic, the Figo also gets a black mesh grille, bigger 15-inch black alloy wheels, contrast roof, black ORVMs, smoked headlamps, boot-mounted spoiler, side and rear decals with an ‘S’ badge, leather wrapped steering wheel and all-black interiors with red contrast stitching to make the car look and feel sportier. The price of the Sports variant is Rs 50,000 more than the standard Titanium variant.
In terms of safety the Ford Figo gives six airbags on the top and model which makes the car one of the safest in its segment scoring 4.5 stars in Global NCAP tests.
It is available in 12 different variants of petrol and diesel fuel options and seven different colors to choose from. The Ford Figo price starts at Rs.5.59 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and the top end variant Ford Figo 1.5 TiVCT Titanium AT is priced at Rs. 8.46 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
With some exciting features and competitive pricing, Ford Figo is going to give some tough competition to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, VW Polo, and Fiat Punto.
